Project Description

Caritas Europa

Migrants, asylum seekers and refugees are protected by international human rights law and the EU should respect it and contribute to such protection.

Amidst the current flaws in the way EU Member States treat migrants, asylum seekers and refugees, Caritas Europa engages and tries to impact the EU-level debate on access to international protection, resettlement and EU border management, return, detention, family reunification, labour migration and integration.

Every year Caritas organisations from around of the Mediterranean Sea get together in an initiative run by Caritas Italiana as Migramed Partners to discuss the migration flows over the Mediterranean and possible solutions. Caritas Europa is a member of the Frontex Consultative Forum through which it tries to make sure that the Agency guarantees human rights, it is also a member of the EASO and FRA consultative fora. Caritas Europa works closely with the Christian group composed of five other Christian Networks based in Brussels.
