Project Description

Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants

PICUM – the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants, is a network of individuals and organisations working to ensure social justice and human rights for undocumented migrants. Grounded in principles of social justice, anti-racism and equality, PICUM works to ensure that all migrants are treated equally and with respect regardless of their immigration status and are entitled to a dignified standard of living. Bringing together the experiences and expertise of its more than 150 organisational and 170 individual members from 33 countries, PICUM generates and coordinates a humane and informed response to undocumented migrants’ realities and provides a platform to engage policy makers and the general public in the full realisation of their rights.

PICUM has developed an effective evidence-led, rights-based and measured approach to uphold undocumented migrants’ rights. Through data collection and research, PICUM links the realities facing undocumented families in Europe with the principles of human rights, non-discrimination and rule of law upon which the EU was founded. Providing essential networking and capacity building support to organisations and advocates working across Europe, PICUM documents their experiences to inform national, European and global policy makers and promote good practices and solutions.
